WHO WE ARE

We are a group of believers from many walks of life united by our salvation from God’s grace through Christ.  As followers of Christ we understand that we are his body and live to glorify him.

We model our way of life by following the pattern that the apostles gave the church.  The apostles' teachings are held as authoritative and we devote ourselves to continue to let the Bible be our guide to our conduct and practices.

So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Acts 2:41-47

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

 Ephesians 2:14-16

WHAT TO EXPECT

Worship

By God’s design our worship is simple. We know that worship is not about the place that we worship him but that we worship him in spirit and how he commands.  Below we explain what we do in worship and why.

“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24

Singing

The whole congregation joins together praising God through a capella, meaning without musical instruments as the early church did.  Following the command we have to sing we both glorify God and build each other up through the words we all sing.

…addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:19-20

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16

Prayer

Several times through our service one of our men will lead us in prayer.  The time of prayer in worship is to have one man lead us together in communicating to God our adoration for him and express that we need his help.

I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling. 1 Timothy 2:8

Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. Ephesians 6:18

Communion

Every Sunday we take communion together.  This is a time we remember the sacrifice of Jesus through a meal he instituted while he was on earth.

Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:26-28

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. 1 Corinthians 10:16-17

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. 1 Corinthians 11:26

Giving

We also take up a collection by passing a plate.  During this time our members have an opportunity to support the ministries and works the Lord is doing through our congregation.  We do not expect or ask guests to give when the plate is passed by them.

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come. 1 Corinthians 16:2

Preaching

A portion of our worship time together is dedicated to preaching from the word of God.  Typically the preaching is done by taking a portion of God’s word using the text to hear God's truth and how we can properly apply it to our living.

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? Romans 10:14

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 2 Timothy 4:1-2
